Megan Abdallah: The Soul of a Craftsman, The Eye of an Artist
A craftsman at heart, Megan Abdallah's artistic journey began with an obsessive passion for drawing at the age of nine. This foundational love for the craft guided her through years of development, eventually leading her to cross an "imaginary skills line" in high school. It was then she met John Russ, a master woodcarver and former graphic artist, who became a pivotal mentor.
Under Russ's tutelage, Megan discovered a natural talent for woodcarving and mastered the art of watercolor. She considers watercolor the best medium for a budding artist, believing that while it allows for "happy accidents," it is also an unforgiving teacher that hones the skills necessary for perfection.
This disciplined approach to watercolor was the perfect segue into oil painting. Her first oil piece, Bountiful Death, marked a new chapter. Studying under Ed Martin at Henderson State University, she learned that encouragement from a teacher can be more valuable than any single technique.
After college, Megan applied her diverse talents to a wide range of projects, from painting sets for the Arkansas Opera to honing her skills as a master craftsman at Robert Turner & Associates in Dallas, Texas. There, she took wall preparation and finishing to an expert level, even hand-painting and repairing intricate designs for clients with discontinued wallpaper.
Her professional path continued with projects that included reproducing famous artwork, painting portraits, and creating murals. In 2008, she channeled this wealth of experience into launching her own business.
Megan's unique blend of artistry and craftsmanship has earned her significant recognition. Her abstract art was published in PaperCity Dallas in 2019, followed by a feature in the prestigious design book Glamorous Living - Jan Showers in 2020. In addition to these publications, she has connected with a wide audience through numerous shows in galleries, businesses, and private homes.
Today, Megan continues to create original series and accept commissions, bringing together all facets of her experience. Her favorite works are those she creates for others—pieces born from their emotions and desires. Memorials, spiritual paintings, and animal portraits are among her most cherished projects, each created with the most durable materials and the utmost care.
